15) Pilgrims Rock
The spot where the first Canterbury Settlers from England set foot on their new land in 1850.
Each December 16th, the Canterbury Pilgrims & Early Settlers Association Inc. reenacts the pilgrims’ arrival with a small ceremony.
From Pilgrims rock, you can see the historic post office built in a similar style to the old library. The post office was the site of the first telegram for the region and was the connection between Christchurch and Lyttelton.
