R) Donald Street
Feel free to walk up Donald Street, but as a courtesy to the businesses that are located there please do not try to drive through
Named after Dr. Donald from the town who humorously was known to keep a magpie and a monkey, Donald Street was the location for both the historic stables and the historic immigration barracks. The Lyttelton Museum was located on Gladstone quay corner until it was damaged in the 2011 earthquake. All its collection was rescued and awaits its new home on London street where a 'small' museum can currently be found.
Built-in 1913, the stables then became used as motor car garages when horses were no longer used for transport.
